Economics There are several ways in which implementing AUDICOR® can positively impact your institution’s ROI. AUDICOR helps reduce the heart failure missed diagnosis rate of 33% - 51% leading to significant cost savings. Earlier and accurate identification of heart failure helps ensure proper coding especially in patients with co-morbidities such as COPD, which is present in approximately 31% of heart failure patients. Improve Core Measure PerformanceIn addition to the economic benefits of AUDICOR®, the earlier detection of heart failure may help improve your institution’s core measures performance. Currently, core measures are voluntarily reported, publicly disclosed, and performance impacts CMS reimbursement and JAHCO evaluation. These measures include: smoking cessation, discharge instruction, assessment of LV function, and ACE inhibitor of ARB for EF <40%. However, CMS-Premier is initiating a 3-year program, which will measure performance in five clinical areas: heart failure, acute MI, pneumonia, CABG, and hip and knee replacements. This program will reward hospitals for good core measure performance. Poor performance may negatively impact reimbursement.
